Was able to see the exhaust trail from the Boeing Starliner / Atlas launch this morning out of Kennedy from Atlanta. The timing, inclination and sun were just right. First time this I’ve seen them here. People are also posting pics from Virginia. The spacecraft has had some issues on orbit, but that is why you test.

word is starliner isn’t going to reach the ISS
not a great start.

BTW, did you notice that Boeing implemented MCAS in the Starliner, as well?
Rather than insert into an orbit to rendezvous with the ISS, Boeing’s advanced automated systems “pointed the nose down” into a lower orbi t, insufficient to meet the ISS . I’m sure it’s a feature, not a bug.

Boeing would like to forget this year.
Great shot!

Saw that. A setback, but they will recover.

Boeing has had plenty of successes this year. But MCAS and the MAX are getting all the headlines.

Sounds like an issue with third-world astronaut training to me. Nothing to see here.

And 777X Test Failures.
NG pickle-fork fracturing .
787 QA Issues
787 Lightning vulnerabilities.
They’ve been in the news a lot...

Well yeah, aside from all that....

I will grant that “the share price” has been astonishingly resilient in 2019... I assume that’s why Dennis-The-Menace still has a job.
The market apparently had assum ed that the “approvals were in the mail” and Boeing was likely to have several knock-out-good quarters after getting the rubber-stamped approval to fly again. I’m thinking the mail might be a little slow this time....
2020 will be interesting.

Indeed.
